Messing about in boats

As we rounded a corner on our walk beside the river Wyre, we saw two power tools lying in the grass beside the path. A little further on, and a chap came towards us pushing a wheelbarrow. We wandered on towards the wooden pontoons and derelict boats, and saw the same chap with wheelbarrow laden with aforementioned tools. He said he lived on the boat and also owned five others on the creek. It all looked very ramshackle, a sort of permanent work-in-progress.

We saw plenty of sloes developing nicely in the hedgerows, ready for harvesting for this year's bottling of the sloe gin.

We spent yesterday in the Dales, taking the two mothers to meet each other before the Big Day. We had a lovely treat, tea at Bettys in Ilkley - warm fat rascals with butter, extremely yummy!!!
