THAT FEELS SO GOOD!

This young Arabian had been separated from her life-long best friend for the first time today. She was placed alone in a large corral, while the other was a fair distance away with other females, and they will now be housed in separate barns. Evidently this one will be trained in dressage, while the other is to be sold. Quite possibly one or the other could detect the scent, as they called out to each other. We visited the horse barns at Michigan State University today and noticed this beautiful filly was quite agitated, running back and forth. (She looks a little silly in this shot with her chin all stretched out, but she was quite an amazing sight running around the corral.)

A lady stopped by to give this particular horse some attention (and to scratch her chin), and try to calm her a bit. She told me their story. Horses are such intelligent animals, and they sometimes do form a special attachment to another horse. Such is the life of a horse, yet it was sad to see her so upset. A shot of the lady and this horse is on Flickr.
