Sparkly crosses

Trinity Episcopal Cathedral bookstore.
When it comes to style, Episcopalians stop at nothing.

On a wall in the store hung a new sparkly cross,
The emblem of glamor and style;
And I love that new cross where the Dearest and Best
Could be fashionable for a while.

Refrain:
So I’ll cherish my new sparkly cross (sparkly cross)
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to my new sparkly cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown*.

*Or maybe even a guinea.

— with apologies to George Bennard, "The Old Rugged Cross" (1913)

Onward, Christian fashionistas.

Please feel free to exclaim, "Oh, that scribbler!"
