Pontypridd v London Welsh - Pre-Season Friendly

Here we go again then!

Not quite the start of a new season, the first competitive match is still a fortnight away. This was a pre-season stretch of the old hamstrings for both teams.

London Welsh came with an impressive team, and will be playing in the English Premiership this season. We were trying out a new look team with a number of departures in the off season. We still retain the core of what made us triple league champions, but there is smattering of new blood.

The first twenty minutes were a bit of a mare for Ponty and we were quickly 20 points down and a cricket score was on the cards. Nothing was working for Pont, lineouts were going awry, we were getting turned over and falling off tackles. Slowly as the game wore on we improved, and were pretty competitive for the second half. The final score was 13-40 to London Welsh, but it didn't really matter, both teams seemed to enjoy the battle.
