Too Hot!

Even spiders are getting tired of the unusually long period of warm weather we're having! I know that 81F / 27C at 6pm wouldn't be considered hot by some folks here, but it is for us.

The back yard/garden doesn't have an automatic watering system like the one that's kept the front yard going through our sunny summer, and the mixed range of plants, bushes, and trees in back are looking stressed. It's great not to have to worry about bringing rain gear when we go out, but at this point we'd welcome some gentle rainfall -- preferably during the night.

I think this is a Longbodied Cellar Spider, so we may meet again when the weather cools off and coming inside for autumn and winter looks appealing.

Today this spider was content to hang out on top of a couple of new blackberry leaves, hoping a breeze would come by.
