Street Art

Genova/Genoa is a city of contrasts. Today we explored on foot. It's got stunning buildings and piazzas next to boarded up shops and graffiti. There are a lot of narrow dark streets full of wrought iron barred dwellings and metal shutters covered in graffiti and then we stumble across a restaurant with tables and chairs set outside, or a luxury gift shop.

This is a picture of the sea front promenade, near the port area and we are standing under a motorway! Cutting edge stuff in the day it was built, apparently it even featured in postcards. Doesn't seem like such a good decision today.

The whole place feels a bit run down, but given some financial investment lots of tourist 'potential'.

It may not have been the most obvious choice for a weekend break but we have really enjoyed it.
