Jelly lichen

Had a very enjoyable day, starting by meeting Knottman2 at Leighton Moss for checking moths from the overnight catch in their MV trap. We then got to know each other over a coffee and bacon bap (me!) at the excellent RSPB cafe before getting on with our respective plans for the day.

Our day resumed with a visit to Blackwell, the superb Arts and Crafts house looking over Lake Windermere, and the brilliant exhibition Glasgow Style: Arts & Crafts from 1890 - 1930. After a bite to eat in their equally wonderful cafe, we had a walk along the far side of Windermere.

I took quite a few photos during the day, but I was thrilled to find and photograph this lichen on the wall of the garden where we are staying. It is a jelly lichen, probably Collema auriforme, growing amongst moss on a shaded section of the wall. The jelly-like part of the lichen is apparently a species of Nostoc. The tiny spherical blobs are idisia.
