Gait Barrows

We travel back down South tomorrow. I couldn't leave without a final early evening walk around the wonderful Gail Barrows National Nature Reserve. I love the bare expanses of limestone pavement perforated by deep grikes which provide a unique wildlife habitat and protect many special plants from grazing. Here a few fronds of rigid buckler fern poke out of a grike and catch those last few rays of sun. I will be back!
