Grumpy Old Man

Big sky

A beautiful day today, so S and I spent an hour and a half stacking firewood, then decided to go out for a jaunt.

There was a craft fair in the village hall at Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil, just 40 minutes away, so we drove there and had a look around, met several friends, had a bite to eat, then went for a walk around this beautiful place, finishing with a drink in the sunshine. It was unusually quiet; it's a big tourist attraction with a large touristy gift shop if you like that sort of stuff, but surrounded by sea and islands and cliffs all sparkling in the sun. There are also a shop, a restaurant/bar and a local history museum.

This picture is taken looking across to the island of Easdale - Ellenabeich, on Seil, is often wrongly called Easdale - which was once quarried for slate, as were many of the islands on this 'slate coast'. The jetty is a monument to a an industry now gone.

In the background lie the islands of Luing, left, and Scarba, central.
