Swanset

A late summer club outdoor evening tonight. We went off to Wyken Slough in Coventry. I have driven past here hundreds of time and never knew that this little park and lake existed.

The initial plan was to walk all around the lake, but, given the fabulous evening light we never made it past this point.

The swans were doing their normal trick - preening themselves while you waited for the best moment for a shot, especially when they rise out of the water and stretch wings. Of course, they wait until you are not concentrating or put your camera down to give weakening arms a rest, and then, bang! Wings outstretched, standing high on the water, and just as you get the composition, they are back to preening. It's either that, or while we were all concentrating on one swan that had the best light, all the others just out of shot were doing their flapping and stretching. You know, that KitKat moment with the polar bears.

Ok, the light was disappearing early, but it was just in the right place.

A nice evening out.
