Big bird

The weather improved today and so did my cold. Still a bit under the weather but definitely getting over it.
Went for a walk this afternoon to shoot some N6 streets for Bleeding London. Returned home through the park which is where I took this.
It begs the question why does a bird sculpture need to be put in a cage? Of course, it doesn't but this aviary has a long history. Many years ago it used to house parrots and other exotic birds. I remember visiting them but don't think I have any pics. After that it was used for a while as a bird sanctuary to house injured birds who needed to recover from broken wings and the like before being released back into the wild. After that came to an end, maybe because of lack of funding, the cages stood empty. At least this sculpture gives them a bit of interest.
