Butterflies, dragonflies and blackberries

Decided to make the most of the weather forecast for today and head off to Greenham Common for a walk. It was a lovely day and as it warmed up we spotted quite a few butterflies and dragonflies. Some of the butterflies, particularly the blues, were looking a bit tatty. Towards the end of the walk the dragonflies were on the wing and whizzing around. There were lots of pairs about and some egg laying in the shallow pools that were scattered around the site. This one sat for me for a while, soaking up the sun.

There were huge numbers of perfectly ripe blackberries so we stopped for about half an hour to pick a bagful. The cattle looked on as we got scratched and covered in blackberry juice. There were lots of new calves and a few very pregnant looking cows.

We made a huge blackberry and apple crumble when we got home. It was lovely with a bit of icecream.
