A Riot of Pink

It is four years today since the first big earthquake of 7.1 struck Christchurch. I was out of bed at 5.am and heard the Vicky, the Announcer on Radio New Zealand taking messages and giving comfort to the people of Christchurch, Kaiapoi and other badly affected areas. It was unreal, even for those of us living so far away from the devastation. Our thoughts are with the many who are still struggling to put their homes and their lives back together after all this time.
The magnolia at our gate is in full flower. Petals from the flowers are starting to drop to the ground. The sky behind the magnolia tree was grey and thus flowers stood out in a riot of pink…Spring must surely be here.
