The First Banksia Rose

The day started out cloudy but mild. A nor-west morning. But later in the morning a southerly swept up the east coast and reached Blenheim just before lunch. Brr…cold! We needed to get back to winter clothing in a hurry so out came the trusty merinos. We did not have much rain here but I expect to see some new snow on the ranges tomorrow.
We have an enormous Banksia Rose rambling along the side of our carport. It is one of those old-fashioned yellow ones. In two or three weeks it will be smothered with flowers, a lovely sight.
This morning I was surprised to find the very first of the flowers…just a little bunch of three blooms. So out came the camera to capture them for today’s blip. They are tiny flowers but very attractive when viewed close-up.
