There's a lot of it about.

The late J.G. Johnstone (Jeweller) couldn't have joined in, being a comparative youth and starting up in Penrith in 1928, not to mention the fact that we no longer exist.
There are some miss-guided souls on t'Internet, decrying the thought of "Celebrating" WWI.
They, evidently, do not listen very carefully. I have yet, at any time this year, heard the word "celebrate" used in conjunction with WWI except by those hard of thinking folks who seem unable to distinguish between "Celebrate" and "Commemorate" which is the nearest I've come to hearing "celebrate".
