Polegate signalbox

Further down the road from the Dinkum the railway crosses the high street,and here stands Polegate crossing signalbox.
The signalbox has stood here since 1883 controlling trains crossing over the road which until the 1970s used gates to protect the road traffic from the trains, when they were replaced by controlled barriers.
Now the signalbox is to be closed and is to be taken over by a local preservation society .
