Monkey Man

We spent Saturday morning in the art district of Beijing. This is a large area of derelict industrial buildings that have been taken over by artists and galleries. Jenny was obviously in her element!

There were these great big metallic apes lining all the streets so Jenny took this photo of me with one of them.

We treated ourselves to a night in a hotel near Chongwenmen which had really great views over the city (not very easy to photograph because of the big reflective window). This meant we were able to go out on Saturday night for a few drinks in an area called Houhai Lake which is a bit like the Blackpool of Beijing. There are lots of loud bars with live music and bright lights. Apparently you can ice skate there when it freezes over in the winter.
