The Day of the Dragonfly

Up and out just after dawn - my quarry - the dragonflies we saw on Tuesday at a small pool up on the Moors. I'd hoped to see a dewy-winged dragonfly, but no luck. A lovely walk though, and a nice close up of a grouse for today's blip. Or so I thought.
At home, a bit of baking and a bit of gardening, and as I sat and admired my handiwork, this (I think) Southern Hawker flew in and settled while I got my camera. I know it's a female because she proceeded to lay eggs in our pond.
Just finished listening to Alison Steadman taking the part of a female Dragonfly in a monologue on Radio 4. I like to think it was she who visited our pond ;-D
