French picnic

What a good way to picnic. A bottle of St Emilion on the table, albeit Montagne, tarts from the local patisserie, homemade hummus, stuffed figs and a bench with a view.
The morning started with a little light degustation of red wine followed by a purchase of the same. Then a quick visit to the pretty but busy village of the aforementioned St Emilion, although sadly the church was not open at the right time for us. Then the picnic as you can see above enjoyed by Tricia, her cousin and husband and myself. Even managed to work out how to use the timer on my camera.
A stroll around the fields bordering the house later in the day was followed by Happy Hour in Aubeterre - a weekly meet of those in the British community who want to meet. A pleasant crowd all with different reasons to set up in this neck of the woods and apparently enjoying it.
Finally a meal on a restaurant in Aubeterre looking out over the river. All in all a very civilized day.
