Inside our cabin at Wawona, Yosemite National Park

A long but fascinating journey from San Francisco to Yosemite today. We left SF at about 11.30 and arrived at the Park at 6.00pm. We had a few comfort stops and a longer stop at Oakhurst to fill up with gas and do the shopping of these last few days.

The journey started in the towering blocks of downtown SF and ended in the towering redwoods of Yosemite. Certainly a jouney of contrasts. We crossed the hills to the east of SF and travelled south along the incredible Central Valley before turning east once more to rise up the foothills to get to the Park gate.

This part of California is in the grip of a severe drought yet the Central Valley is a real agricultural heartland which must use huge volumes of water. The highways were very busy passing through places I've never heard of in high temperatures and bright sunshine.

Our journey started on fast moving multi laned highways, crossing the Bay Bridge, and finally ending up on a narrow winding strip of tarmac with a 15 mph speed limit leading up to cabin 23.

Surrounded by redwoods as we are, the light was limited when we arrived, so today's blip gives you a view of the inside of our cabin. I expect tomorrow I'll be blipping something more interesting from the magical Yosemite National Park.
