Pawiak Prison

It has not stopped snowing ALL day.

Today's mission was to get to Pawiak Prison, which I knew would be pretty grim. Harrowing tales and photos of what went on there during WWII under the hands of the Gestapo were displayed in the restored memorial to the thousands, upon thousands who suffered there; all very thought-provoking. The tree that these obituary notices are pinned to was preserved after the war, and had a fair bit of cell-space devoted to its own history. It sits outside the entrance. Worth a trip, if you're ever in Warsaw.

Late lunch in a Polish restaurant, for soup, pancakes and pierogi before heading back out into the snow for a bit more walking. We covered a bit of ground, the fresh snow made everything look pretty, but the fairly mild temperature made it all a bit messy and grubby underfoot. Home to the sofa for snoozing and Winter Olympics.
