Peria Hills Hall

This is our local district hall.
If only its walls could speak! Built in the early 1900's by local farmers, it has been the venue for dances, twenty first birthdays, local meetings, sports events, Country Women's League events and even Weddings.
The adjacent land used to accommodate the old Peria Hills School but that closed down a very long time ago.
The hall is still used today by locals for the odd social gathering or meeting and most often it is used for Indoor Bowls .
Old fashioned on the outside, looking rather colonial, to me it looks like it could have come out of a western, cowboy movie set. Inside, however, it has been well maintained and has a new kitchen and all the facilities needed for social occasions.
I rather like this hall and I am pleased it hasn't fallen into disrepair as it is is a good example of an early NZ country style community building.
