Marmite

After my initial excitement about being in Vegas, realisation dawned that it's actually just like Blackpool....only hotter!

I didn't want to admit I'm disappointed, but Mr A guessed as much as he said I hardly took any photos.

Of course it's mad busy, we expected that, but it's the chavviness of it all. There are numerous shops selling cheap tat souvenirs, loads of Brits & young Americans (who really can't handle their beer).

Walking down the strip we were confronted by people thrusting leaflets in our faces, or by homeless people begging for change. They were quite abusive when we said we didn't have any change. This wasn't a lie either, we needed an ATM for cash.

Possibly not helped by the fact we'd had a long day too.

Today was much better; less crowded and not so much neon.
We visited the famous sign, which has always been the main thing I wanted to see here.....job done!

We spent the rest of the day wandering around the strip and hotels. I played the slots at Caesars Palace....a huge $5 stake won me $41.50.....result!!

I don't know how (or why) people gamble all day....it was boring! I chose to gamble at Caesars rather than anywhere else as I feel it's the most famous casino (to me anyway).

We took the bus downtown late afternoon as Mr A wanted to see the Graceland Wedding Chapel; that's where Jon Bon Jovi got married. And no.....we didn't!

From there it was a couple more stops to the Fremont St Experience. A couple of people recommended we go here rather than the strip. It still wasn't wow, but it was seedier and less fake than the strip.

We've walked miles today but it's been great to stretch our legs before we are back on the road to Death Valley tomorrow.

I'm glad I've seen it and I've certainly soaked it all in, but 2 nights has been enough.

Goodbye Vegas!
