Truly Blippin' Marvelous

By JohnEdward

Salt

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted?

You will see Hunt - one of those happy souls
Which are the salt of the earth, and without whom
This world would smell like what it is - a tomb.

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt.

Adjectives are the sugar of literature and adverbs the salt.

The point is that nobody likes having salt rubbed into their wounds, even if it is the salt of the earth.

I'm guilty of plumbing the third and fifth editions of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations I leave it up to you to find the origins of this selection - the first one should be familiar . . .

Not quite a desperation blip - I just didn't want to go out-and-about today.
