Otter at The Chestnut Centre

Today we finally managed our postponed visit to The Chestnut Centre in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.

We really enjoyed ourselves, though we did not have the best of starts as the first four enclosures we visited had no signs of Otter life. There are several species of owl in large aviaries, set in a beautiful valley woodland setting.

We did see activity in two of the otter enclosures and it was well worth the wait as the otters were having great fun fighting, swimming and running around the large enclosure.

It was hard to photograph as the otters never seemed to stay still, I was trying to photograph through a netting fence and it was intermittently raining. Still. I did manage this photograph of one as it paused for breath.

If you are in the area then I would recommend a visit to The Chestnut Centre. I am sure you will have a good time.
