Day 7 - Bratislava

We had hoped to see some other towns in Eastern Slovakia today, but dwindling funds, very tired legs (and everything else) from yesterday and the fact it was raining when we got up meant we decided to stay in Bratislava and explore the town a little more, there was also a traditional craft festival on that we wanted to have a look at. Eastern Europe is fast becoming a favourite destination of ours so there’ll be more chances for other places in the future.

We walked in the rain up to the Slavin Memorial and spent half an hour up there (where I learnt quite a bit about the second world war that I don't know before) before heading down into the old town again, by which time the sun had started to come out so we spent some time strolling around the craft festival, watching the demonstrations and looking at the stalls. In the late afternoon we strolled across the New Bridge over the Danube and back, just as the sun was setting. We decided on an early night back at the apartment so took some pizzas and beer back and chilled out. The blip was taken from the bedroom window of the apartment - a distant view of Bratislava Castle.
