Sail Away

Just caught the Royal Princess cruise ship as she passed the Cloch Lighthouse this evening. The 142,000-tonne ship has the greatest passenger capacity of any to call at Greenock Ocean Terminal -- 3,560, around 500 more than the regular Princess Cruises’s vessels coming to the Clyde in recent years and 900 more than Queen Mary 2 which at 150,000 tonnes will remain the largest passenger ship to come to the river.

Royal Princess was the star of the ITV documentary the Cruise Ship. She is 1,083 feet long, 217 feet high and has 19 decks. She was named at Southampton by The Duchess of Cambridge and her inaugural cruise took place in June last year. She is currently on a 17-day Iceland and British Isles Explorer holiday and then heads across the Atlantic to Canada and New York.

Sorry about the lack of comments lately, but I am working on a number of projects that have tight deadlines.
