Red White and Blue

Made yet another trip over to the dark side for a fab day in Southport.

The sky was full of aircraft for over three hours including a Catalina, Sea King, UH 1H Huey, Jet Provost, Tucano, Hurricane, Tutor T1, Mustang, Lynx and many others.

My favourite ones however were the two Lancasters which appeared through the murky mist (as blipped by Lovelupins17); the Typhoon which was a superb demonstration of brute power (but too fast to photograph) and the Red Arrows - they never fail to entertain.

I wonder what would have happened to the two Blue smoke planes had the Scots voted YES last Thursday?

The only disappointment for me was a "no show" of the Vulcan bomber - apparently the weather back at base near Doncaster was not conducive for flying. Tomorrow is day two of the air show and it's likely the Vulcan will make a rescheduled appearance.

Finished the day with coffee and cakes before heading back this evening.
