Symi - Day 18

Learning by doing is not always the only/best way, sometimes it's easier to check your history first. So, in a world that is going to pot, I took a shot of this statue again and have cut n' pasted my previous text, again.

Symi: WWII.

The Germans occupied this fair island and were not happy. Food supplies were low and things were not going well for anyone, the locals were starving and under orders to surrender all fish caught, on pain of death! In desperation the Greeks sent their children out to go and catch food for the family. They thought even the Nazis wouldn't execute little children.

They were wrong.

This statue is dedicated to all the young boys that tried to feed their families.
