home time

This morning the little stray we took in yesterday seemed in much better form. She'd obviously slept well!

My neighbour Carole and I took her to the vet to see if she's chipped. We found out that she's from Beauvoisin, a little village near Buis les Baronnies. That means she'd walked about 30kms! She's a 6-year-old beagle cross called Taza :)

That afternoon we got a call from the man who looks after Taza to say he'd come and pick her up. His neighbour kept her as a house dog but when his work built up too much, he asked his friend the hunter to take her in. Taza's done really well out hunting, but her and one of the other dogs in the pack often take off on their own and have even killed chickens on some farms!

Taza seemed really pleased to see her owner, thankfully! We were worried about sending her off with someone she was scared of. In fact, when it was time to go, she jumped up into his van immediately!

The other good news we had this morning was at the doctor's. We'd had a load of blood tests done and we're in great health :) Apparently I have the liver of a tee-totaller! How an Irish woman living in wine country has managed that, I will never know ;)
