Solace Day 11: The River Trent

Today we left the River Soar, which for much of the time had been little larger than a normal canal, and headed up the River Trent.

The shot shows the boat we have been working the locks with ahead of us as we headed towards the Trent and Mersey canal. CC was still having problems with her back but was managing to enjoy herself.

The route leaves the river at Derwent Mouth lock and it was back onto normal canals with no problems of current or the possibility of heavy rain causing an increase in flow or a flood.

We found a nice mooring in the country near a farm bridge No 25 near Willington. Willington had proved useful for shopping with shops only a short walk away from the canal.
