Horse grazing in a riverside meadow

The morning sky was grey as the walk around started with a Candle lighting ritual under the Oaktree. This new Light marking the difference between a Fitness-Running or Nordic Walking and my present way of Meditative Walking. Breathing in and Smelling a sense of Holyness in the everyday life-situation. Dealing with the itching pain in my hip by Being in Touch with my Deep Matrix or Ground of Being There under the protection of that silent Oaktree. My good neighbour friend may think that I’m behaving in a strange way. So be it. I take a deep breath and kneel a few times. Then we take a slightly different way, descending through the forest alongside the Peacevalley Brook. Were the small gurgling brook makes a splattering fall, we hold to listen and try to unify with the giggling spirit.

This time following the riversideway to the East it was less chilly than Wednesday. We would just go “halfway” and then turn around. That turning point found itself where the horses were grazing. You can see one of them. As peaceful as that moment was, I felt that Nothing Special was in the air. Often you turn around automatically, just until Here and Now Back Again. It happens to me on the Zandmotor Peninsula or alongside the Weserriver, or somewhere on a forest path. But I realize something is “lacking”. At a Real Turning Point in an existential& spiritual sense, something unspeakable happens. Reaching a Turning Point may mean an Ultimate or Radical Breakthrough, a Happening that can not be made undone. A life historical “Quo Vadis” moment, implying a kind of opposite running course or Enantiodromy (Heraclites, Jung). A Yin turning into Yang. I try to hold that in my silent consciousness, as soon as a place gives me the feeling of something wonderful happening here. Not just a matter of making a U-Turn, or at least not only.

Walking together does not always allow you to stand still, ask silently about the invisible Turning Point Light, a mood of creative hunch hanging between the trees. Where a horse is grazing. Sometimes this rich and deep experience is flattened into making a turn around. Even a smile can be omitted but not forgotten. Being and staying in Touch with your deepest Matrix or Ground of Being just includes a sense of serenity that transcends everyday reality and at the same time keeps in touch with that reality. Which after all is a reality of companionship and solidarity.
