The Fall

A young girl swings out over the waterfall of what was once Canons' Mill on the River Chess, near to the Bois Quarry Lakes. There had been mills on the site since Saxon times, but the last one was worked until 1937 and demolished in 1960.

And no, she didn't fall in the water.

Here's a very delicate and beautiful song, also called The Fall, by the Norwegian singer/songwriter Ane Brun. It has great personal meaning to me, and evokes some bittersweet memories. I first discovered Ane's music five years ago on a visit to Tromsø in the Arctic Circle, and have seen her perform live several times since then on her tours of Britain.
