New scarecrow sited

A second afternoon at the allotment in continuing glorious weather. About 80% of the plot is cleared and dug over. Cleared strawberry bed today and dug the courgette and pumpkin patch while Susan weeded and cultivated the remaining areas.

All that remains to be done (all!!) is to clear a patch that has been lingering under a big plastic sheet all summer and deal with a big bank of nettles where we want to plant some more fruit bushes for next year.

After the exertions of the allotment we enjoyed a tea of french beans, fried eggs and smashed potatoes roasted in rosemary and paprika, using up the damaged spuds that won't keep.

The day ended with a walk in the gathering gloaming around Bearsted, still in tee-shirts on 2nd October. Superb.
