Lemon anyone?

We bought this car when it was 2 years old and had done just 9,000 miles. It is now 5 years old and has done 17,000 miles but in the intervening 3 years it has been a lemon of the greatest pip.

Thank goodness for the Hyundai 5 year guarentee else we would have had to spend £000s on repairs. Take today when it went in for a service, MOT and fault repair just before the expiry of the guarantee. Creaking power steering, intermittent fault on central locking (not replicated by technician of course) failed heating elements on rear window (again), radio that randomly comes on loud. and failed air con (again)

Not all fixed. Then they had two manufacturer's recalls to repair - faulty headlight wiring and faulty brake lights.

On top of this they said that the two rear tyres may not pass MOT as the side wall was cracking and might need replacing. At this point we felt like giving up with it.

Just after we bought it it was in the garage for 3 months while they tried to resolve an issue with the engine management system which caused the car to fail to pull away from a start, for example at a junction, which was very disconcerting. Then they had to replace the rear window and sort out the air con as well. There were other things too, but I cannot recall them any longer.

I don't suppose I'd be too bothered if I'd bought a make of car with a reputation for faults but we'd done careful (humph) research using Which? and other sources that showed this was a good car, worth buying especially for the 5 year guarentee. Thanks.
