The Silent Island

Wakening up on a sunny and beautiful morning on Kökar island after yesterday's interesting ferry trip was wonderful. We had a late breakfast and got ready to go out.

Last night when we had arrived, Timo drove the car close to the back door of the house, so that we could unload the car easier. After we got everything out of the car, Timo went out to drive on the parking place, which is in front of the house. There was so much snow that when he backed the car and was turning he drove in the high snow pile and the car couldn't be moved at all.

So when we were about to go out Timo went to try to move the car from the snow pile. After 20 minutes he was still out and I went to see what was going on. Timo had found out that the front wheels of the car were in a ditch. So we needed help. I called Johan and he came with his tractor to pull our car from the ditch. So there was this little episode before we headed to Kökar's church.

When we arrived there we left the car and walked to the church. No one had been there besides us so there was some wading in the snow. At the church there is a Franciscan monastery which was founded in Hamnö in the 15th century. Today the monastery is in ruins and it is under this roof.

P.S. The roof goes almost down to the ground so there is not as much snow as it looks like. A lot though.
