Grey ship on a grey sea

Modern naval ships are strange-looking, to my inexpert eyes - all flat planes and lack of surface detail. This one was sitting off the Tail of the Bank this morning as I marched crossly from Gourock pier to McInroy's Point, having been stranded by a combination of an unhelpful/plain ignorant McGill's bus driver and the fact that Argyll Ferries had only one ferry running and there wouldn't be another one for 50 minutes.

I'm sure Midgedancer would have something more to say about this ship; I shall content myself with remarking that it has rather a pleasing hull shape.
