Aftersummer Dream: Sail Away

“Sail Away”, sounds like our desire this morning on the beach. Perhaps our last sunny morning at sea. Of this aftersummer season, I mean. It is raining now outside, as I’m writing these lines. And when the sun will return in the course of next week, most probably it will be colder and even more windy than it was already today. “Sail away” could mean our longing to stay in the same mood and be there forever gliding over the eternal seas towards even more idyllic islands. A useless craving because we did enjoy our lazy Oktober lay in the sand. And I did take my salty dive after walking and wading halfway to Albion. In clean waters almost without waves. A few silverwhite curlings and darkblue ripplings of the wind.

We layed in the sand. And warmed in the pale sun. Willemien just to recover from her ongoing cough. We enjoyed looking around seeing various scenes of people having their weekend day off along the seaside, as we did too! Don’t think you are the onlooker. Being the looked on at the same time, not knowing by whom and from where. By the way, before I forget: today I saw again a little old doggy digging for imaginary(?) balls in the water. After yesterdays discovery of such original behaviour, I was struck with wonder again. First the Lady, as she said, did not understand what he was after. But later on, when She was doing the real play by throwing the ball in the water, I saw something particular: a pattern in the doggies behaviour. After catching the Ball in the water, swimming back, on leaving the water, he did not go for the whole way back to the Lady.

He digged a hole to burry and cover the ball on the waterline. Hey...!!!No More Ball Here! And then he started to bark trying to get the Lady rising from the sand, coming over to him, dig the Ball out and then throw again! So, maybe, his strange Dedication to Digging in the water could be seen as an exhortating to the Lady Playmate. An abreviated symbolic way of expressing: ComeHere&GetThatBallThrownintheWater!!!. Oh, clever Masters of this Universe, could we first learn to understand our dear Friends language. Before wishing to sail away in search of impossible and unnecessary dreams...
