wander, stumble, wonder

The edge of nowhere

Day one of a Byron Bay getaway, and we had (probably) the busiest day of the whole trip. A 7am beach walk and swim (for some), breakfast, and the arrival of a few members of Claire's family from Brisbane, and our morning was done. Lunch in Byron Bay, a wander through the markets, and the team split in two. Half went back to the house to watch the AFL grand final, while the rest of us went up to the Byron Bay Lighthouse to examine the edge of Australia. After walking down to the cove and then back up again it was time to head back. Books and naps passed the time until dinner, at a local pub. And then it was bedtime - an exhausting day all round.

Close your eyes, and smell the salt spray, and you could be anywhere. Open your eyes and look out to the water, and you'll see no glimpse of distant land, and know there is no land between you and Chile.
