all creatures great and small..

..were blessed today at St Swithun's Blessing of the Animals Service today.

To coincide with St Francis of Assisi's feast day and a celebration of World Animal Day the 104 year old tiny little St Swithun's Church in Lesmurdie welcomed all creatures great and small.
I'm not religious at all but the banner for Blessing Day was very intriguing...and I have to say a tad 'Vicar of Dibley' ...so I rocked up this morning and was very welcomed along with camera!
The congregation included...
four dogs...inlcuding Mabel the Dingo and Terrence (the Terrible)
one cat
one Silkie hen and her 12 chicks
and one VERY wild child who discovered half way through she was allergic to the cat.

So all go and what a delightful way to spend an hour or so on a very wild and windy morning.
Readings were read
a quiz was quizzed and
songs were sung with verses in 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' so pertinent to Australia:
The wildflowers in their beauty,
the mountain ranges tall,
the billabongs and rivers,
and friendly birds that call.

Very special and thank you St S's for the welcome.
