Bb....Banana Boy

Here's Bb in our patio tackling the jungle! The marquesas on the left were cut right back, the jasmine and ivy on the back wall trimmed and teased up the wire on the right, the hibiscus tree on the right was cut back and last, but not least, the huge leaves of the banana tree were cut back and it was tied up to give it support. You can just make out its trunk to Bb's left, near the step ladder. We aren't sure what to do with the two big bunches of bananas it's produced - only the second time we've had fruit from it in 16 years - and they're nowhere near ripe (see Bb's blip). Some sites say they can 3-10 months to ripen in the tree. That wouldn't bother us, but goodness knows what height the tree might be by then and we have to be respectful of our neighbours! The other consideration is our missing their ripening if we're away.

He was also careful not to disturb the birds' nest, which has been there now for a few years, on Bb's right in the ivy on the wall. It's nice to see the birds come back and see the baby birds when the time is right. We like to think they're the same birds that come back and enjoy our patio as their home, but city dwellers as we are, perhaps that's naive!

Anyway, Banana Boy did a great job today.
