Lollipop Land

We had a leisurely start to the day after our late night last night. Rich enjoyed opening his presents and we sat by the pool with his sister and mum until the rest of our group joined us just before lunch. Half the party were disappearing home later so we said our goodbyes and headed to La Breña Natural Park at Barbate.

It’s a bit like Oompa Loompa land with lollipop shaped pine trees growing out of the sand. We were hoping we might see a hoopoe but I think they might have headed off already. It was actually very quiet in the woods but all three of us enjoyed the tranquillity. There were plenty of crickets and dragonflies to photograph as well as some seriously mean biting flies but given the trees are quite iconic for us, I chose one for today's blip. We then chose a daring route home along a track up to one of the white towns on a hill, Vejer de la Frontera.

In the evening, Kirsty invited us for a birthday barbecue with her mum and dad. It was a lovely evening of easy chatter and fine food cooked on Kirsty’s new lime green mean machine.
