Twirlers go European

Back-blip 4 of 4

Final day of the Croatian-hosted Eurpoean Majorette's (baton-twirling) Championships. More team events today plus the duet routines in which Danielle and partner Casey were performing. All went pretty well but the standard is very high.

More modest 'fresh air' breaks today (see yesterday's blip for explanation). The final routine finished about 6.30 and then the all-anxious wait for the results. In summary, bearing in mind that solo/duet each category had up to 22 competitors and teams events typically 8, the England team did really well, earning 2 second places and 5 thirds in the team events, a second, 2 fourths and a sixth in the solos and a second and a fifth in the duets. Danielle got the sixth place for her solo and they achieved the fifth place in their duet.

A brilliant few days. We're very proud of our offspring, whether announced in the prizes or not; a great achievement to represent their country in a 'sport' that is growing in popularity around Europe.

As you might image I've taken hundreds of photos and haven't sorted through them all yet. Here the immaculate Croatian team are in action.
