Journey Through Time

Zig Zag Falls

Is this the prettiest image in my Flickr set? Probably not. But it is one of the reasons why we headed to Mt. Hood today and the Mt. Hood National Forest. I located a waterfall that was close to the main road and was an easy walk in the woods. And it proved to be a very fun little trip and quite lovely to see and hear. My brain was telling me, "What the hell are you doing?" Acoustic Neuroma brains do that when they feel threatened by being unbalanced. I said, shutupshutupshutup, and managed not to fall into the ice water as I took a few soft water shots of these water falls. And did you know that the air around waterfalls is very special. It's all about negative ions.

Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments. Think mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.

It looked like a gigantic game of "pick up sticks" (if anybody remembers that game) as there were dozens of logs littered all over the place. If those logs were all lifted out of there, it really would be a much prettier walk...but I guess they just clear the trail and leave 'em where they fall.

We also went to Mt. Hood...all the way to Timberline Lodge. What a treat to see that and the magnificent view. I do hope you visit the above link to see what we saw today. The weather has been much too nice to have brought a layer of white to Mt. Hood, so you will see it in all it's naked glory....looking like a giant brown rocky volcano with a few patches of glaciers here and there.

And now I'm tired. So, see ya later kids.
