The days, like swallows, fly...

The hours are shorter and colder
The minutes go frittering by
The seconds are decades older
And the days, like swallows, fly.

Collars and colours are turning
Shepherds' delight in the sky
Bonfired trees are burning
And the days
Like swallows
Fly

The compulsory Autumn poem. The whole class had to do one. Each illustrated with a Crayola drawing of a leaf. Has to mention bonfires, leaves and either fireworks or hedgehogs.
