Coal Tit (Periparus ater)

Too bust today for anything other than a few shots out of the window at the birds on the feeders. When I looked at the shots it was a toss up between this and a Tree Sparrow. The Tree Sparrow was probably the better shot but I bliped one in March.

The Tree Sparrows however are interesting they disappear in spring and return again in autumn. This isn't any form of migration as you do see the occasional one around, I think it is just there is enough food in the surrounding country side for them.

Tree Sparrows have declined by 33% over the last 40 years while the Coal Tits have increased slightly (about 3%)
