A moose in the hoose

As a cat lover I watched the series the Secret Life of the Cat this week on television with great interest.

One question they failed to answer is why cats bring their kill, sometimes when it is still very much alive like this poor mouse which I managed to snap before it dived for cover in the radiator, into the house.

On a good day, depending on whether you are a cat or a mouse, Taz can bring in three or four field mice plus the occasional rabbit and bird. Once he had a live bat which I managed to rescue.

Yet if we are away and he is in the house on his own he rarely brings in anything.
We don’t know why.

It did confirm what I had long suspected- cats have a long way to go before they become fully domesticated like dogs, and they much prefer their own company to that of other cats.

( This mouse is still somewhere in the house).
