Where did summer go?

Crazy day for weather. Having spent the past couple of days in Spain, it was a rude awakening to experience today's chilly temperature and torrential downpour. Boy did it rain! I was one of ten members of the Southern Group of Motoring Writers who attended the opening of a new Tesla centre in Crawley today, for a briefing with the company's UK director, as well as a drive for those who hadn't yet experienced the car.

At one point the rain was so deafening on the centre roof that we could hardly hear one another in conversation during a coffee break. As I have just spent nearly a week with a Tesla S, I departed before the test driving session to head back towards Kent. This dramatic glass-fronted building on a roundabout in Crawley caught my eye just as the weather performed yet another dramatic shift. I love the clouds reflected in the frontage, and the light emerging below the dark edge of the receding storm.

Hey ho, a slow drive back in stop-start traffic on the motorway. Doesn't it drive you crazy the way some drivers can't seem to cope with a bit of rain without bumping into one another!
