The Rampers

I love walking down the Piers and taking photos of the Lighthouses, harbours boats etc. Today, my Mum, Daughter and I went for a walk around the town (in between heavy showers and whilst my boys were at school!) and we ended up at the back of Smeations Pier. Towards the left hand side, is Bamaluz Beach (the dog beach - which my grandparents old house backed onto) but this picture was taken where an extension to Smeatons Pier was originally built back in 1864. Unfortunately, the extension was built with wood and within 20 years it had rotted away. These wooden piles are the remains of this pier, known locally as 'The Rampers'.
