A Handful

This was my favorite photo from the farmers' market this morning, although these peppers with a small red visitor came in a close second. The early morning rain transitioned to late morning sunshine, and there were still strawberries, sweet corn, and tomatoes at the market, as well as fresh ginger.

After a quick lunch, we went to Growsource to order bark for all of the non-lawn areas of our front and back yards -- about 80% of our property. It will be delivered on Monday, so we'll be busy next week carefully spreading the bark around the many plants in the front and back yards.

Our next stop was a visit to one of our artistic friends on the annual Whatcom Artist Studio Tour, where I fell in love with this tricycle-riding bird and applied a bit of art to it myself, thanks to my new camera.

We had an early evening meal at the Temple Bar, one of our favorite eateries here, which included sharing a slice of chocolate torte with whipped cream and a light orange sauce. It came in a close second to The Copper Hog's very similar dessert we enjoyed on Wednesday. Phil took a fascinating photo through the window by our table -- check it out here.

On, then, to the Limelight Cinema to see Maggie Smith in "My Old Lady," set in Paris. It was an interesting story and there were some wonderful moments, but it's not a film I'd want to see again, unlike "Far from the Madding Crowd" (1967), which I would happily watch once a week. Alan Bates at his handsomest!

I'm falling further behind with your journals, but will catch up in the next few days.
